These Lao Shoulder Bags are designed to combine function, comfort, and natural style. Each bag is handmade using a mix of cotton and linen fabrics, chosen for their soft, earthy tones and organic textures. Many of these bags also incorporate Khadi cotton sourced from India—a hand-spun, handwoven fabric known for its authenticity and unique character. The blend of linen and cotton creates a durable yet lightweight bag, making every piece one-of-a-kind.

I don’t make these shoulder bags in bulk or duplicate them on purpose. Instead, each one is crafted from inspiration in the moment, using the fabrics I have on hand. This ensures that every bag is truly unique, with small variations and details that highlight the beauty of handmade craftsmanship.

This design is inspired by a traditional Lao shoulder bag I purchased over 25 years ago while living in Laos. I still use that bag today, and after repairing it several times, I decided to create my own version to share with others. The only major change I’ve made to the original pattern is the addition of a convenient zipper pocket inside, perfect for keeping essentials like keys, a phone, or a wallet secure and easy to access.
